In these uncertain and confusing times, it’s not always easy to know what the correct course of action is. Our practice is closed to regular appointments, but we are available for essential and emergency eye care on a special temporary phone number: 07385 257992. You can also use this number to order contact lenses and if you have an urgent glasses order, we can deliver to your home.
Eye emergencies
A situation that requires emergency eye care is something that’s not going to get better on its own and is causing you pain or loss of vision, such as:
- sudden loss of vision
- red eyes
- a sudden onset ocular (eye) pain
- blurred vision
- sudden onset of floaters & flashing lights
- double vision
Essential eye care
Essential eye care that we can help with depends on the circumstances. We understand that for some people, especially key workers, you might find yourselves in a situation where you’ve damaged or broken glasses that you need in order to see properly. Therefore, we encourage you to call us during normal office hours to discuss your problem so we can find a safe solution for you as soon as possible. Please do let us know if you have symptoms of COVID-19 so we can determine the best course of action without risking the health of our staff and other patients who need our services too.
Contact lens care and maintenance
It’s particularly important during this time to take good care of your contacts. This includes following hand hygiene steps and taking care to wash and dry your hands thoroughly before you touch them. You should also make sure you follow directions when it comes to the amount of time you can wear them for. You may have heard that it’s possible to contract COVID-19 via your eyes, but if you keep up with the hygiene steps mentioned, and avoid touching your eyes, lenses and face at all other times, you are still safe to continue wearing contacts.

Stay safe, stay at home, save lives. We look forward to welcoming you back to our practice when we are able to again!
