Myopia
Myopia, or shortsightedness is where the eye becomes too long and causes the light that enters the eye to focus in front of the retina (back of eye) rather than on the retina. This causes problems like headaches when watching TV, or looking at the smart board. You may also find you are screwing your eyes to see things far away. Other reasons for myopia can be the cornea is too steep or a cataract becomes too dense. High myopia can increase the risk of health problems including Glaucoma and Retinal Detachment.
The solution is to wear glasses or contact lenses which help correct your vision while you are wearing glasses/contact lenses. At Murray Opticians, we do a glasses check as part of your full eye check every 2 years or if you feel there is a change.
